Won't they change?

I adjust and at times, I adjust a lot. Today I did it again. The reason? It's just for the other person's comfort derived out of his laziness. If you ask me if I was the one who had to give up, I'd say no! But by doing so, I had decided against doing what I had earlier decided to do. Had I carried on it that way, it would have caused so much bitterness, at least to me.

Frankly, I consider myself to be quite sensible (or trying to be so!) and I have learnt that petty things shouldn't stand in the way of your peace and happiness. I have the experience of losing (or just short of losing) some good people in my life over petty things - which were not at all significant if analyzed independently. Often I wonder if this is a mark of weakness in me, or it is because I cannot stand it up. But I realize that it is not always so. One needs more effort and will power do it the other way.

I am getting tired of those 'why me?' minded people around me. Will they ever change? If you see others being indifferent to your imperfections, understand that it's not their stupidity, but its the unendurable nature of your personality that makes them do so.
People should learn not be a nuisance to others.
That pays a lot!

* * * * * Dinner!

- Had been to Park Shereton along with my Project Team for dinner yesterday. And as usual, I was on that low- appetite syndrome!

- Completed Paulo Coelho's 'The Alchemist' sometime back, and am now reading 'The Animal Farm' by George Orwell.

- Had a bad dream yesterday and I pray nothing of it comes true.

- Here's a nice forward from PravsWorld:

Life should not be a journey to the grave
with the intention of arriving safely
in an attractive and well-preserved body

But rather to skid in sideways,
champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other,
body thoroughly used up,
totally worn out and screaming
"woohoo - What a ride!"

Weekend Trouble

On Friday, I was in office till 10:30 in the night. That day was too dull, except for the mail from Aakash about his new webpage. And I got a pointer to my blog too - from the Servers of Stanford! Thanks for that Aakash! (Look around people: I have also updated my links list.)

Went Home on Saturday morning, nourished myself with good food and fruits, and returned to Chennai early on Sunday. Well, had some work, which I left halfway on Friday. Completed it by 7:00pm and went home. Senthil was also back from Pondicherry by then. We decided to go for dinner (I worked hard that day, skipping my lunch too!!).And this is where the drama starts..

Dressed up and went out of the door, while Senthil picked up the lock and the chain and locked the door. By some instinct (late by a few seconds though!) he asked me if I had the key. (The lock is the type which can be locked without the key: sure, you need the key to open!) You must note it was him who opened the door in the first place. Very smartly, he took the key off the lock and kept it safe in his room. (Responsibility, very often, pops up only when it is meant to bring some trouble :-| ) I thought it was a prank but decided against when he started laughing aloud. Then I joined him, imagining how we would be spending that night, until Sam or Ganesh get the key next day morning. We called up Sam and Magesh and pleaded them to take a bus to Chennai and come over immediately. Their reply was straight- ’Its too late to stat now'.

It's fate, I thought, that we have to spend the night on open terrace, that too when the rain clouds were in the brink of tearing out to heavy downpour. Fine, so be it. But, anything after the dinner. So we went to the nearby hotel. We were about to finish our dinner even as Senthil received a call from Sam, and he was full of cheers after the talk. Told me a big comedy is on. I couldn't guess.. Then he said:’ All the four keys for our house are inside. No one took the keys when they left and we have locked them in now'.

Sam suggested that we go around and see if we could find someone who breaks locks and get him done the job. Imagine, two people going around every cycle repair shop or welding house, asking if they could break a house' lock, that too at 9:00 in the night. That's an easy way to find yourself locked up in the local prison for attempt of theft. Desperate, with no other choice, we tried that option too. Suspicious looks greeted us everywhere.

Breaking the lock- It wouldn't work out. Moreover, it would cause unnecessary trouble to other people in the night. So we thought we'll try hacking off the lock. Went straight to a electrical hardware shop, got half a dozen Hacksaw along with the metal handle. We weren't sure if five or six hacksaws would be enough. Locks are made of hardened steel, I've heard, and this one was a Chinese make, considered to still harder.

I was pretty confidant that we would be cutting it all through the night, till others also join us in the morning. Its not that easy man! We have done this kind of job during the first year of engineering in the Mechanical Engg. Workshop! On top of it, I was damn tired. But what the heck, it has to done at least by sunrise. you cannot even yield to your micturition reflex, leave alone going to office the next day.

Reached home. Kept away my watch, mobile and specs and got ready for work. I was still very sure this was not gonna work out. But then, nothing wrong in trying... Senthil holding the lock in position, I started cutting the lock rod. To my great surprise, the hacksaw was sinking into the rod as if it were a wooden stick. And the whole 'operation' took just couple of minutes. I did not know if the saw was so good or the lock was that bad, but it definitely spoiled the thrill. We stepped in as nothing happened. In fact, Sai, who came home after half-an-hour or so, did not believe that what had happened, had happened, until we showed him the severed lock. That was the story of the weekend, for all of you.

Do you know what I was into today morning? Searching for Ash's pics over net. Why? My lead wanted the splash screen of the module we're developing to have Ash's eyes featured as the background. And he was adamant in it. Spent around an hour admiring the beauty of the green-eyed angel. Now, that's what I call an interesting work!

Siva rocks!!

Hat's off to Siva, recipient of the first "Nitish V. Thakor Excellence in M.Tech project Award" bestowed by the Department of Biomedical Engineering, IIT Bombay!

I believe it is a recognition well deserved. I have spent the best of years with him and often been awed by his passion and enthusiasm towards reaching his goals. A good cartoonist, aggressive player of Age of Empires, ardent lover of Ferrari, fan of Bryan Adams, very understanding and caring friend; that's Siva for you!!

I so proud of you dude!

Knock Knock!

To all those people who sighed relief on my disappearance from this space - Beware! I very much here alive and shall make unheard screams now and then!
Call it busy or just slothfulness on my part, It has really been long since I posted something! In fact I have so much to put here:

Sam's treat at Pizza Hut: Right place to go when you are considering to shred your wallet's weight without you gaining much! Your purse is already empty though your tummy isn't filled to even one tenth of its capacity! Met Vardhan and Magesh @ Maggy after really long time. Had good fun there..

To the 6.5 th floor: Whoever comes to our place would have the privilege to visit the 6.5 floor (Top of the water tank, which is on top of the lift room, which is above the 4th floor!). Standing here, you can see the Loyola Church to the north east, Arihant Building to the north west, the Jain Apartments to the south west , the numerous red eyes of the cell phone towers in every direction and frequent flights to and from Meenambakkam Airport... It's here that we often sit and analyze issues of international import. Sam would invariably preside over such discussions, with active participation from yours truly. What we talked about that day at that place, I don't remember, but I do certainly remember those revelations by Sam. That's when I shouted - "Why the hell should I work for improving the technology?". I know I sound like a blabberer (I have always been one! :-) ) But Sam and Maggy would understand this fully!!

Kala's treat at Dabha Express: With Visu and Thennal Karthik by your side, u can't help but laugh your stomach out on all their 'sheshtai'. While almost everyone spent most of the time in shouting and chatting, I was busy with what one does at a hotel - Eat!

Stayed her for the weekend. And that score stuff came out to be 253-290. Pretty decent for the prep I put in!

Well, It has been two years since I attended my first and last interview. 5 Sept 2002 saw me placed in the company I serve now! That was somewhere towards the end of my 7th semester in college..

It will look very abrupt if I stop here; well let it be!!
