Ce-liberation

The Little Devil gets older by a year.. Happy B'day Sam! The man who always sides Justice and displays extreme practicality at times, wished his B'day celebration to be 'different' and we had given him so!!

And Suja has started her own blog! You are going to give me a nice company Suj, happy blogging!

Me just waiting to go home, growing very restless on Friday evenings nowadays!! Hell, the whole floor looks empty when I peek out of my cabin now! Still an hour's work left and I am hurrying up!
Adieu!

Back from Sleep!

Went to I, Robot with Sam on Monday.. We actually planned to go to the near-by Dhaba, I don't remember how we ended up with the movie. Incidentally I was the first person in the queue at the Current Booking counter at Devi theatre, Mount Road: So sparse was the crowd at that time. Movie started at 10:00 after the usual clippings that are aired before the film..

Coming to the movie itself, well, apart from the usual visual feats and taking-you-to-future kind of stunts, there is nothing much appreciable in the movie. No, nothing definitely of the kind, which you would expect from reading Asimov's work. In fact, my friend, it wasn't any near to the actual story at all!

If Troy gave an eroded and edited version of the epic Iliad, I, Robot movie had made a complete mockery of the book it claims to be based on. Just the title, names of some of the characters, and of course an end slide flashing -"Suggested by the short stories of Isaac Asimov".. That's it!

If Asimov tried to tell that Robots can never be beyond human control and can bring no harm, this movies tries find an exception. Moreover, I could find the story line very similar to the movie Resident Evil. In that story, Red Queen, the Central Control system, locks up and kills people inside a secret underground biological weapons facility as soon as it detects a infection and spread of a deadly T-virus inside the building. And here, VIKI tries takes control of the world for the cause of humanity and so on.. Its effort to distract Sonny-the robot and later threats to Spooner (Will Smith) when he tries to 'kill' VIKI; they sound ditto like those of Red Queen. When cops enter into its chamber, its holographic image of a girl (Red Queen) comes up and pleads, threatens not to deactivate her..

It was quite a disappointment. And for your note, The Foundation Series is expected to be on the screens sometime from now and may be, I say - may be, Shekar Kapoor as the director. That info was from Sam anyway!

Back to the life here, I have been pegging away at my work, so that kept me off from posting this. What else? Got some work that can't be shelved up over for the next week! Before I sign off, did you here the songs from the Malayalam movie - For the People? 'Annakili' and 'Lajjavathiye'.. Man, it rocks! Those two are looping-in continuously in my playlist right now! And I am looking forward to the planned get-together at Pondicherry.. Lotsa Guys and Gals from college would be meeting over the beach on Saturday!
Would be a great time then..

Frozen

The Air conditioner in my cabin is turned on full blast and that makes me sick. How else would you feel, with a bad spell of cold, your nose blocked, eyes moist and digital extremities completely numb? Pity me!

I had completed The Godfather yesterday, and the novel has infused a new perspective about the underworld. I even dreamt of myself being a Don, moving with my Consiglieri and couple of my Caporegimes. Cool it, that was just a dream! I liked the characterization of Don Vito Corleone, with his crisp and clear dialogues.. Another catchy line was this:

"Mothers are like cops; They always expect the worst!"
Did you get that line correct?? Ha ha!

My Word for it!

I promised him that I would take it up. He's not having any stake in the benefits I get, but he bids me to comply. It's not going to be easy but I'll have to keep up my words.

Had been to Tirupathi this weekend along with my family. Bunked office on Friday too. So it was three days in total. I shall try to put up a brief account of my trip. Not now, but sometime later.

And people, do you believe in horoscopes? Well, I heard something from my mom about my 'future', which was so delicate that I literally blushed in front of her at that very instant! Ahh! She should have chosen not to discuss it with me, at least now, but anyway she came out very frank and open.. I felt good about it.
Also, I am having not-so-good time running now and I need to be very careful it seems! It has always been like this for sometime, so this isn't really a threat to my present lifestyle!

Music Divine

Dheem Tha Deem Tha Dhirana dara
Dheem Tha Deem Tha Dhiranaaaa dara

Rain drops in dance,
a Strange kind of romance
I don't know whether to cry out aloud
But am feeling fine
Watch the rhythm of the rainfall in dance

Was listening to Indian Rain from Colonial Cousins today morning and the song just mesmerized me.. Have heard it sometime before, but listened to it just today! (Did you get that funda? Ye! )

If there was something that would grant me the wish of changing a congenital factor in me, then I would definitely beg for a better voice box. You know? I am crazy about singing (much to the annoyance of others, but can't help it!) Also, I love watching live performances over hearing songs behind the movie scenes. During college days, I used to draft the lyrics of my favorite songs and ask Subha, the 'media player' of ECE, to sing them out for me. She's gifted with very melodious voice. On the star side, I admire Hariharan, Udit Narayan, Bombay Jayashri and Sadhna Sargam. On the classicals, M.S.Subbulakshmi's chants spellbind me. I could blabber all day about my love for music and the tracks I listen to, but I'll spare you on that!

Did I tell you about the calling bell at home that fell silent? Thanks to roomies Ganesh and Senthil.
It was on this Sunday night. Ganesh and Sen returned home at midnight after watching a 'dooper' movie.Magesh, Sai and myself were so engrossed in our dreams that our outer senses were tightly shut and we didn't hear these guys banging the calling bell. Usual trick of missed calls didn't work out too. (Magesh and me had 47 and 24 missed calls each!). Failed in every attempt, the boys woke up the watchman, got the terrace key and slept under the sky. As a protest to the treatment meted out to it, the calling bell ceased to work from that night! No one would even talk of going to late night movies until normalcy is back. :-)
